Oral Testimony

As part of the documentation collection surrounding the creation of the Kigali Memorial Centre in 2004, an oral testimony project was created with the goal of recording and cataloguing the survivor experiences of the 1994 Rwanda Genocide.

The testimony of those who personally witnessed the genocide is an integral part in understanding the events. From testimonies, it is possible, not only to learn about people's lives in relation to the genocide, but also about the motivation for their actions, and about the emotions, indeed the trauma, that they have undergone.

Testimonies on this website were collected from survivors and form part of a catalogued and categorized resource for research and educational purposes.
